The Great Red Dragon met the Lion of Judah in the wilderness. The ancient serpent wasn't there as a welcoming party. Jesus, the Last Adam, and the True Israel knew that the slithering being before Him was there with murderous intent in his heart and He prepared Himself for battle.
The dragon pulled out his twisted and misshaped sword and slashed and plunged at Jesus with it. The Lamb of God blocked every attack with a straight, double-edged sword with flawless precision.
Finally, the Dragon brought the Lamb up on a tall mountain and showed Him all the fallen kingdoms of the world and their glory.
Then, he threw out his offer. All these kingdoms can be Yours IF you bow down before me.
The True Prophet, High Priest and King of Israel grinned at the Father of lies before Him, knowing his cunning craftiness all too well.
Jesus didn't want the fallen kingdoms and "their" glory. He didn't want the kingdoms that were fueled by pride, envy, growth by violence and enslaving others. He didn't want a kingdom where leaders used their positions to force their people to serve them.
Jesus also knew that He was going to inherit all the nations of the world, but He was NOT going to do it following the Dragon's strategies of putting "self" first and trampling others to reach your goal. Instead, Jesus was going to win the nations of the world by loving His Father first, trusting and obeying Him to the very end, and by loving His neighbor as Himself.
Leviathan, the king over all the children of pride, would not expect this strategy from the Messiah as it went against every idea of leadership that he valued in his fallen, angelic mind.
The Messiah's "so-called" weakness would prove to be the Dragon's ultimate undoing...but that is for a story to come...
